Ilea asked her mom for a topic and her mom recommended the French resistance. So we just went with the French resistance. We started research by using google and databases including Discovery Education and History Study Center and we found some useful sources. The most helpful primary source was Charles de Gaulle’s flame of the resistance speech. The speech was helpful because it was the speech that started the French resistance and it was important to the beginning of the French resistance. It encouraged the people with calls to fight. The most helpful secondary source was http://www.scrapbookpages.com/Natzweiler/History/FrenchResistance.html it had a lot of information about the French resistance and people in the French resistance. This source was helpful because it had information of the beginning of the French resistance up to the liberation of Paris on August 25, 1944. It also had information of different factions inside the resistance like the French communist and Marquis. What the French resistance did to help liberate France like blowing up railroads so the Germans couldn’t get supplies and cutting off telephone lines so Germans couldn’t receive warnings that they were about to get bombed by the British Royal Air Force(RAF). It also had information about people who were in the French resistance and the things they did. We chose the website format because we didn’t want to do a performance and we didn’t want to make a documentary and we didn’t want to write an essay so the website seemed like the better choice out of the 5 choices. We put most of the information like the speech that Charles de Gaulle broadcasted on the BBC in London. We also put what the French resistance did to fight against the Nazis in France like assassinating Germans. We also put women in the French resistance on the Home page. We put 4 pictures on the Home page also. Ilea made another page for the most important people in the French resistance like Jean Moulin and Charles de Gaulle. There was another person in the people of the French resistance and he was Philippe Petain but he wasn’t part of the French resistance; he was the leader of the Vichy government. This was a puppet government which is a government being directed by an outside authority (Germans). The French resistance were fighting for their rights and trying to get rid of the German occupying France. The French resistance influenced history because they were a successful resistance group because they got rid of the Germa
